  • Creating M2PA link
    Ribbon Communications/Signaling Transfer Point 2020. 4. 24. 16:07

This Product: Ribbon Communications DSC SWe.

    Version: 18.1.0

    Hypervisor: Oracle VirtualBox

To create M2PA link, we need one more NA. M2PA link will be connected between two NAs.

We are heading on this topology. you can refer to 'Creating Network Appearance' to creat NA2

    M2PA connection between NA1 and NA2

    1. If you successfully create NA2, you can see two NAs. so far so good?

    2. Please check the IP address.
System > IP Networking > Network Interface > Routing IP Network

Here are IP address I will use.

    VM1 IP address for pkt0
    VM2 IP address for pkt0

    3. We are going to configure M2PA link on NA1 first.

    Applications > MTP3 > NA1 > Linksets > Create > APC 2222 > Create

APC : Adjacent Point Code. APC will be a node's PC directly to be connected with NA1.

    APC 2222

You created a linkset for 2222! let's get into Linkset 2222.

    4. A linkset is a set of links. it means one linkset can have several links (0-15) and it can have LSL, HSL(ATM/Annex A), M2PA links simultaneously. if one linkset have one more links, Traffics are automatically loadshared based on SLS value. Let's click 'Create' of M2PA link in this step.

    SLC / DRE ID

SLC(Signaling Link Code) is the number of links. A linkset can have 16 links(0-15). It is used for load sharing. The number should be matched with the far end SLC number. I will use 0.

DRE ID is VM number or Routing CPU slot number for sending and receiving M2PA traffics.

    Create!

    5. You will configure M2PA link you created.

You should configure local IP address which DRE 1 has because we select DRE ID 1.

the reason why local IP address has two is for SCTP. SCTP supports Multi-homing association. it makes network redundancy. The dedicated port for M2PA is 3565. but we will use 1122 for good view.

    Click the link!
    Continue and Activate

    To commit, 'Continue' and 'Activate'

    6. The M2PA link on NA1 is activated but now OOS. we will create another M2PA on NA2.

    7. Create APC 1111 on NA2

    Applications > MTP3 > NA2 > Linksets > Create > APC 1111 > Create

    8. Configure M2PA of APC 1111

    LS 1111 > M2PA Create > SLC0, DRE2

We used DRE ID 1 on NA1. so we use DRE ID 2 on NA2.

We used same SLC number 0 for both link point.

Same SLC & DRE ID 2

Correctly configure Local and Remote IP address and port.

    To commit, 'Continue' and 'Activate'

    9. Finally you connected both NAs by M2PA link.

If you are failed, you should check IP address and port and SLC, NI.

    10. Checking the links status

    Applications > MTP3 > All Links

    All is 'IN_SERVICE'!

    Congrat!
